what are solutions for dual monitor problems for vista?

Help, I have a vista computer. with ATI Radeon X1300 gfx and 2gb of RAM.(i think).. i have 2 monitors, 1 18.5″ acer and 1 16″ dell and i have 1 VGA port and 1 DVI port but the DVI is the one on the Gfx and the VGA is above it….. okay when i go to display and right click on the 2nd monitor and click extend desktop nothing happens to my second monitor, my first monitor ask if i want to keep this option but even if i click yes nothing happens.. plz help! p.s im a newbie when it comes to computers so bare with me. =D

Because you have a discrete graphics card installed in your computer, both monitors must be connected to the graphics card. Basically, use the DVI and VGA ports rather than the “other” VGA port.

Without making any settings, the computer will probably have both monitors showing the same thing once you start the computer. Only after you select the “extend” option will you get an extended setup across both monitors.
