What can I do to keep my computer monitor from going black while I’m working?

While I’m working on my computer periodically the monitor goes black. It comes right back to what I’m working on but it’s agravating when your in the middle of working on something. I’d like to stop this from happening. Do I need to change a setting or what do I need to do. This has only been happening for about the last two or three weeks.

if its windows XP….

right click your desktop in an open area….

choose properties….

click the screen saver tab….

click power….

adjust the “turn off monitor” setting as desired….
