is It bad to use my LCD television as my computer monitor?

I have a LG 42lg50, 42″ TV. I am curious if using it as a monitor is bad for it. I’ve heard it may burn images to the screen. Is this true with LCD TV’s? It has a VGA connection. Any info is helpful?

Burn in is a thing mostly of the past. Your television can be used as a monitor no problem as that is what it was designed for.. displaying images. The main and probably most difference in the computer monitor on my desk vs the 42 inch LCD you have is that has a coax in where as my monitor does not. My monitor has DVI and VGA your TV has HDMi and DVI and VGA, so that tells me right there that LG wanted this used as a computer monitor as well as a TV.

I cant watch “TV” on my monitor directly, I have to watch it over the internet or through my tv tuner card in my PC.

Your TV is too modern to worry about burn in. fire that bad boy up and enjoy 42 inches of whatever you are looking at!
