How to stay healthy at the computer screen

Probably, you enjoy reading this article on your LCD screen that is supposed to be a flicker and other radio-free monitor bulky and power-consuming CRT. But do not think the LCD which most people use these days is much better for your eyes and you can watch more hours. Right now as it was in the past computer users often suffer from eye strain, headaches, fatigue, burning eyes, or bad, what is called Computer Vision Syndrome (CVS). This condition can be caused by the screen of the computer itself and the conditions surrounding the computer screen (A pre-existing eye problems may be the cause too). The following simple steps can help minimize your eye problems while working on your computer.

Maximize your monitor's refresh rate. high refresh rates are less likely to cause eyestrain. Check what are the optimal refresh rate and a maximum possible for your monitor. Use the Display Settings Control Panel>> Advanced> Follow and implement the "refresh rate of the screen" (frequency) at a maximum. According to eye experts refresh rate must be 70 Hz or more.

Adjust the contrast of your monitor so that the characters on the back are easy to read. The best setting contrast ratio is one that lets you see all the details, but does not hide any shade. This parameter can be found by increasing contrast until that all details are clearly visible, then back down just before the details disappear. If you work on the desktop, go digital connection (DVI) if it is possible. It reduces the noise and displays images smoother than VGA.

Maximize your screen resolution. Make sure that the text size is optimized for more comfort. A higher screen resolution reduces the size of elements on your screen and increases the relative space on your desktop. But on the other hand, you may feel uncomfortable if the fonts are too small to read text. To change your screen resolution in Windows OS, open the Display Control Panel. On the Settings tab, in the resolution of the screen, drag the cursor, then click Apply. When you are prompted to apply the settings, click OK. Your screen goes black for a moment. Once your screen resolution changes, you have 15 seconds to confirm the change. Click Yes to confirm the change, click No or do nothing to return to your previous configuration. Be aware that the use of a non-native resolution to low on the LCD screen can lead to poorer image (may appear fuzzy). In most cases using the native resolution of LCD is better.

Adjust the brightness of the screen at an intensity that is comfortable for your eyes, not clear and not Sun Avoid overly bright light from your monitor. Turn off the features of improvement color (if your monitor has one). Normally, the brightness of the screen should be about the same as your working environment.

Be sure to surround lighting. It should be indirect, soft, non-interference. Avoid glare, bright light, or shadows caused through windows nearby. The best position is where the windows are next to your screen. Use blinds, curtains or avoid reflections. Make sure that a desk lamp does not shine in the eyes or on the computer screen.

Blink often. It is very important when working at a computer. It moistens the eyes and helps reduce dryness and irritation of the eyes. The normal blink rate is about 10-12 times per minute. Avoid the airflow in front of your eyes.

Maximize distance and position of your monitor. Place computer screen 40-70 inches from your eyes. In the vertical dimension, the computer screen should be placed slightly below the level eyes.

Regularly exercise your eyes by looking away from your computer screen every 20-30 minutes and focusing for 10-20 seconds a distant object (at least 6 feet from your eyes). Move your eyes and change position. Take a 10 minute break every hour to rest your eyes and reduce eyestrain problems – getting up, moving, exercising the arms, legs, back, neck and shoulders. Make sure you have enough sleep – about eight hours per night.

Try turning on ClearType if you use Microsoft Windows. It improves readability on color LCD screens with a digital interface, such than laptops and high-quality flat panel displays. You can see a better and clearer to reduce eyestrain. Visit Microsoft.Com and read articles, step by step how to enable ClearType Tuner.
